Our Premium Fuding SHOU MEI is an exquisite, delicious Chinese white tea, and a great introduction into white tea for everyone. With it's refreshing, sweet taste Abbey Tea's Shou Mei comes from Zheng He county, renown for it's superb Fujian white teas.
The leaves are hand-picked from the Zheng He Da Ba bushes in late April/ May 2017 and then sun-dryed and withered. They have not gone through the process of pan-frying or rolling. The additional aging process of this white tea beginns after being pressed into cakes. It imporves the flavour in years to come because of further natural fermantation..
White tea has the highest level of antioxidants, vitamins and minerals and is recognised by many medical institutions for its anti-cancer health benefits. It is used in traditional Chinese medicine to cool body heat and flush out toxins.
There is an old Chinese saying about white tea :
一年茶、三年药、七年宝

A fruity white tea that is a mix of upper leaves. It has a stronger flavour than other white teas, similar to Oolong. It is harvested later than Bai Mu Dan hence the tea may be darker in colour. Aged after oxidation, this tea offers a dark full brew. The cup has a subtle sweetness and is well-balanced, with delicate floral flavor overtones.
