Green tea glow and natural body cleanse

Posted on Nov 30, 2016

Feeling run down and less energetic than usual? Then it’s time for a natural green tea body cleanse to free you from toxins that have built up over the christmas period. Green tea can refresh, revitalise, rehydrate and cleanse the body from impurities and unhealthy toxins.

All you need to do is to incorporate several cups of good quality loose leaf green tea into your diet on a daily basis. Eat healthily, and exercise at the same time and you will flush the toxins from your body, helping you to digest properly, keep hydrated, lose weight, look good and feel good.

How does green tea work as a natural detoxification mechanism?

Green tea is packed with natural polyphenols or antioxidants that support the body’s normal detox system. These polyphenols have a direct impact on the liver which is the body’s major detox organ. To detoxify properly you need a healthy liver and the liver needs the antioxidants found in green tea to counteract and fight the free radicals. Free radicals are the unavoidable by- products produced in the liver. To stay in balance, the liver needs enough antioxidants to counteract the bad by- products, the free radicals. So, by adding green tea, packed full of healthy antioxidants, to the diet, you are helping the body to detox and cleanse naturally.

To maximise the health benefits and detox effect of the green tea, make sure the tea is brewed properly. Use only the best quality loose leaf green tea, do not use boiling water and do not over steep. A good quality green tea only requires seconds to brew. This will ensure that the tea retains the maximum amount of healthy nutrients and vitamins.

As well as cleansing the body naturally, green tea is an excellent beverage to promote glowing and healthy skin.  Either by drinking it or applying it directly to the skin. The antioxidants in the tea help to protect the skin. Green tea can help to fight against acne, shrink pores, which are the first symptoms of premature ageing, reduce fine lines and wrinkles and protect the skin from harmful UV rays.

Try making a face scrub using a basin of cool brewed green tea to which 3 tablespoons of sugar have been added. Gently massage on the face in a circular motion to exfoliate the skin, leaving it fresh, soft and silky. Or, even easier, and this is great for acne or other skin ‘breakouts’, simply brew some green tea, leave it to cool, apply to the skin for 15 minutes, then rinse with warm water, pat dry. apply some moisturiser and feel the difference! The green tea glow!

So, for a refreshed, revitalised, re-energised ‘new you’, try adding green tea to your daily regime today!
